'THE SCENE' - Featuring PAUL PAX ANDREWS - A Jazz windows event

Mon 2 Aug 2010 @ 8:00pm

Admission Members $10 Student members $8 Non-members $15

FORMERLY from Sydney and now living in Perth for over six years, jazz musician, composer and writer, Pax Andrews was a finalist in the prestigious National Jazz writing Awards in 2009 and came third in this competition with his book, ‘The Scene’ - based on his personal and professional journey through jazz and his Heroin addiction while living in Sydney and overseas.

Pax is an outstanding jazz artist, with virtuosic skill and outstanding musicality, particularly on all reed instruments including the bass clarinet. His life and music are intrinsically linked and this performance will explore this through narrative excerpts from his award winning book along with readings from his printed essays.

This performance will include jazz standards and original material, images of his jazz heroes, the Sydney and New York ‘scene’ and will also feature: Steve Elkins (piano), Phil Waldron (bass), Toby Anning (drums), Sam Graham (trumpet), Bazil Psanoudakis (turntables), with narration by Tim Hooper.
