MFO - End of National Tour party

Mon 19 Jul 2010 @ 8:00pm

Admission Members $10, PJS Student Members $8, Non-members $15

Mace Francis Orchestra

TONIGHT’S performance will be the closing party of MFO’s third national tour. The “Neverever” National Tour was put together to celebrate MFO’s fifth year as a working big band and promote their recent CD release – Neverever… Well, Maybe Someday – to a national audience.

Be ready to hear MFO in full flight as they will have just come off a 12 gig tour and a 2 day recording session – the band will be red hot and in fine form! It is also the last chance to hear Tim Jago with the band before he heads off to Miami in early August.

The music tonight will come from the vast MFO library plus a few new pieces composed by Mace Francis and Tilman Robinson especially for the tour. The night will also feature the world famous door prizes, bigger and better than ever – tour souvenirs, band memorabilia and even some things Mace has stolen from musicians on tour, will be given away – not to be missed!

"These layered compositions and scoring convey colour, atmosphere and movement far more effectively and with greater interest than the stock standard arrangements often heard from big bands.
John McBeath - The Weekend Australian

"Mace Francis and his ubiquitous orchestra are a dinky-di national treasure. Mace's name can rightly be spoken in the same rarefied breath as giant jazz genius Paul Grabowsky, whether we're talking composition, or orchestration. The MFO's 13 'pieces' are much more than the sum of its parts! You haven't heard how brilliantly bent a big band can be, until you've heard the MFO."
Lloyd Bradford (Brad) Syke - Australian Stage Online
