Tonight is a special night of composition - Marty will lead this talented ensemble playing all original music by his own hand. Featuring some of Perth's finest jazz musicians the sextet will perform a diverse range of music that encompasses many facets of the jazz idiom. Fresh new compositions influenced by the group's collective musical background will have you toe tapping and finger snapping all night.
Marty Pervan has been playing in and around the Perth music scene for almost two decades, including performances with Renee Geyer and Paul Grabowski. He has recently graduated from WAAPA where he studied in both the Classical and the Jazz Undergraduate Bachelor of Music Courses, majoring in Composition and Arranging under Graeme Lyall. As well as playing trumpet and trombone, Marty is Musical Director with WAYJO Big Band and is in demand as an arranger, composer and music educator.
The members of this group are all well-established musicians in their own right. They are Marty Pervan (leader/composer/trumpet), Roger Garrood (alto sax), Bill McAlister (trombone), Greg Howieson (piano), Matt Willis (bass) and Matt Wright (drums).
