AFTER graduating from WAAPA in 2005 Jenny wanted lessons with some of the vocalists who most influenced her. So she set about creating opportunities and they took her to New York and back, via Berlin and Lisbon over just 18 months.
Now she's living in Melbourne where she plays a predominantly original repertoire with her quintet.
Jenny embraces the unique sounds of the voice while developing ideas, motives and soundscapes with her group. She is curious about space, breath and tone while creating a balance of free and articulated ideas.
Her fascination with the music of Theo Bleckmann, Ben Monder, Sidsel Endresen and Bjork is apparent, as she uses her voice as a word-free sound or in a lyric.
Josh Crothers, piano; Greg Brenton, drums; Tim Jago, guitar; and Pete Jeavons, bass; accompany Jenny at the PJS.
