The Fix started out as a group of students studying at WAAPA at Edith Cowan University. Most of the original members of the band were in 3rd Year at the time and performed at Jazz Futures, the student night at the Perth Jazz Society (2003).
Not long after graduating, the band began playing regularly at the Moon Café on Thursday nights and has been there for over four years.
Although beginning as a quintet The Fix has since evolved into a quartet, with Chris Foster (piano) and Ricki Malet (trumpet) co-leading the band, and Matt Willis (bass) and Dan Di Paola (drums) providing a solid foundation.
Their Thursday night gig has changed over time from a Jam session to one of Perth’s stable jazz gigs featuring some of the finest local musicians. Jamie Oehlers, Ben Vanderwal, Aaron Choulai, Sam Anning, Mat Jodrell, Danny Susnjar,
the members of Thirsty Merc and Carl Mackey are but a few of the talented musicians who have played or sat in with The Fix.
The Fix plays a wide variety of music ranging from jazz standards to contemporary jazz, funk tunes and original repertoire.
