This is Chelsea’s ‘four bar intro’ into the jazz world after years singing soul and blues. A devotee of Eva Cassidy, Chelsea possesses a powerful voice embracing the very mellow lows to the dizzying heights…it will move you.
Along her career path Chelsea has received many accolades. Since graduating from WAAPA her career has snowballed, travelling to America, Singapore, Taiwan and China. She's done gigs with Air Supply, James Morrison, Cruel Sea and Jimmy Barnes. Selected in the first twenty chosen on the first Australian Idol, Chelsea was criticised by Dicko and told, “You should stick to the low notes, don’t try to be the Diva.” However Chelsea remained true to her self and has since proved him wrong. Recently she has been working the Asian circuit where the audiences just love her performance.
Chelsea’s on stage persona is one of warm communication. Perhaps it was the influence of jazz legend Miles Davis who Chelsea, as a 12 year-old, had the great privilege of starring with in the movie "Dingo", that has brought her to the jazz stage now.
Her band The Juice Extractors is admirably captained by Mike Collinson and his misanthropic saxophone. On piano you will find the talented Russell Holmes while bassman Peter Jeavons and drummer Mike Perkins complete the line up.
Come on down and make the connection.
