| 1980 | 14 April - The PJS makes another move, this time to its permanent home, the Hyde Park Hotel June - Memberships are at an all-time high of 225, due to the new venue. The PJS is now considering presenting internationals from time to time, as a result of having recently missed out on some internationals visiting the Eastern states November - The PJS holds a logo competition. The winner is Joyce Van Namen, who wins $25 and a year's membership. Jack Kennedy and Gerry Larsen form the PJS Big Band. Athol Higgins of the Hyde Park Hotel buys a brand new Yamaha piano. December - The newsletter claims "the reputation of the PJS and the Hyde Park as the centre of jazz activity in WA has spread far and wide. This success is based mainly on 2 factors Ð our ever-increasing membership and the continuing support of all Perth Jazz Musicians, of who some 50 are now members". The PJS also makes known plans to independently present complete international groups |
